HP3000 E-Mail Configuration: NMMGR Default Gateway
To configure your HP3000 so that it can communicate via TCP/IP with any
other host on the Internet, you need to do the following:

Know the IP address of the router, accessible on your local network,
which routes TCP/IP traffic to other networks.

Sign on your HP3000 under a logon where you can run NMMGR.

Run NMMGR.PUB.SYS, open config, select NS, go into the unguided configuration
option then follow the path: NETXPORT, NI, (lan interface), INTERNET.

Make up a name for your router (any 8 character name will do), enter the name
in the "gateway name" field, and hit the "Add" function key.

In the "Neighbor Gateway IP Internet Address" field, enter the IP address
of the router (including the leading "A", "B", or "C" classifying the type
of IP address).

In the "IP Network Address" field, enter a "@"; leave the "IP Mask" field
blank; put some number like "10" in the "Hops" field, and hit the "Save Data"
function key.

Validate your NMMGR configuration.

Execute a :NETCONTROL UPDATE;NET=(lanname) command. If this doesn't work,
you may need to stop and restart your network.
Your system should now be able to "talk" to any other host reachable by your
router. To test this out, use the PING.NET.SYS program to attempt to "ping"
a machine on another network. For example, :PING.NET.SYS 164.109.1.3
