E-Mail Configuration Guidelines for the HP 3000
 

Pick a scenario that describes your network setup:

• A Full-time Internet connection and an HP3000 that can directly access the Internet.

• A Full-time Internet connection with a 3000 behind a firewall.

• A Dial-on-demand (anytime) Internet connection with an Internet reachable HP3000.

• A Dial-on-demand (at scheduled times) Internet connection with an Internet reachable HP3000.

• An Internet link via UUCP on another system.

• An Internet link where mail must be "relayed" via another system (HP 3000 does not have a direct TCP/IP connection to the Internet).

• A local area network (no Internet link).

• Communicating with PC based e-mail packages (MSMail, cc:Mail, WordPerfect, etc).

• Using POP clients with NetMail/3000 or OpenDesk with the DeskLink gateway.

• Hiding individual host names (so all e-mail addresses are just mailbox@domain.org).

• Special considerations if using OpenDesk cc:Mail clients, MS Mail clients, or OpenDesk clients.
